easy, quick, great service!

I've been taking my Honda Civic to Pat's garage since I got it about 9 years ago. The service is always great and friendly, they do a great job on my car, and I know I can trust them. A co-worker who used to go there said she misses her old Honda mainly because she misses Pat's garage. I'm so glad to have a place like this to take my car.

I just voted for Pat's Garage on the 2010 SF Gate's Best of the Bay list, and realized that I had not yet shared my experience here. What a fool I am. I began taking my car to Pat's after Craig Rowland closed his shop down the street from Costco. I had been going to Rowland since I purchased my Honda Civic in 1991. Patrick Cadam worked there, and when Craig left the Bay Area for the hills and the great big sky, his San Francisco (and beyond) patrons were referred to Pat's brand new (and very cool) shop located on a tiny road off of third street, right across the street from the museum. I hated going out of my hood, and downtown was even worse, but I did it faithfully because I would not ever consider taking my car to anyone but the very, very best in town.Originally they only worked on Hondas, but some time ago Pat took up Subarus as well. Pat is not only a car and motorcycle enthusiast, but also a great person in the world. He is "green" (and so is his shop), and if you look through the huge stack of magazines he has for you to read, you'll see his bigger concerns for the environment, world politics, and more. He loves his clients and we know it. Pat even holds parties for us, complete with food, drink and live music. The evidence is on the walls of his space, along with cool wonders of the world (have you looked at those masks?). Now how many other auto shop owners in SF do this? Let me know if you can name just one.Augie Barone (a deep thinker and a car guy if I ever met one) and Karin Roper (a taxidermy aficionado and a way smart woman of the world) drive the front so smoothly that they earned my respect the day I met them. They guys who work on your car, Richie and Fred, are gifted mechanics (and they're great to look at).My car will be 21 this fall, and I will keep driving it as long as I can because I think we all need to try wearing things out to save off the consumer culture and marketing madness of USAmerica. Although it doesn't have airbags, it has Pat's Garage and an engine that hums thanks to Pat and his crew.

I have been taking my cars to Pat's Garage for more than 12 years now - I have never been disappointed in their family atmosphere, or expertise with my cars. I hope they'll be around forever!

Pat's garage goes out of their way to accommodate our work hours in the morning. We really appreciate this. We also appreciate them calling whenever they find something else wrong with our car. Their explanations are clear and direct.

At Pat's Garage I get treated like "one of the family"! I have benefited greatly from Augie's proactive and frank feed-back on my auto issues.I can always depend on Augie for the unvarnished truth.

I got a same-day appointment for an oil change, which I really appreciated.

I always feel like I'm getting honest and good service here. They understand I am on a budget and, I feel, work accordingly. On my most recent visit, they helped me figure out what was necessity and would could wait in order to stay closer to my budgeted amount for repairs. The things that could wait I will save up for and head in to Pat's when I can. They are friendly and explain, for the most part, what's what and why I need it. I appreciate their efforts to be green, too. My only complaints are that even though I live only about 5 minutes away driving, the neighborhood is a bit too sketchy to walk home through so I have to cab or embark on an hour & 1/2 long muni to BART to walk/bus home. They are fairly close to the T Line Muni if you can go that route. The only other issue I have is that they aren't ever opened weekends when it is easiest for me to drop my car off.
